Digital Marketing Manager is on the SmartBug Media’s internal Marketing Team; the team responsible for building the brand for SmartBug and bringing in more clients and revenue for our growing agency. As our Digital Marketer, you will help us achieve our lead generation and revenue goals. Passionate about marketing automation, web design, digital marketing strategy and execution. A strong background in planning and executing campaigns from start-to-finish, with deep experience working within a marketing automation platform (HubSpot) and managing both organic and paid social media. 

Content creation is also a key responsibility for this role, creating interactive, engaging, innovative content that is on brand and revenue focused. This includes video, animated graphics, and static graphics using tools such as Adobe Premier, Canva and more. 

As a support role for the Marketing team, the Digital Marketing Manager will assist in the execution of our inbound marketing strategy through project management, content production and editing, QC-ing, and amplification on our social media channels. 

The desire to live and breathe technology is a must in this position, as most time is spent using tools such as HubSpot, PostBeyond, Teamwork, Canva, Sigstr, and Lucky Orange.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Marketing Ops & Website:
    • Collaborate with Marketing Team to build emails & landing pages in HubSpot
    • Execute lead generating campaigns (webinars, pillar content, lead nurtures)
    • Produce Digital Events and Webinars on event platforms such as BrandLive
    • Collaborate with Content Marketing to schedule and publish content
    • Work with SmartBug Dev to maintain the SmartBug website hosted on HubSpot CMS
    • Actively involved in SEO efforts (keyword, image optimization etc.)
    • Manage contact lists in HubSpot for segmentation, suppression and targeting
    • Collaborate with designers to improve user experience
    • Measure performance of digital marketing efforts using a variety of Web analytics tools (Google Analytics, WebTrends etc.)
  • Social Media & Advocacy:
    • Strengthen the company’s social presence, reach, engagement and influence on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook (respond to messages, schedule content, and grow audience)
    • Implement social media strategy that aligns with business goals
    • Drive traffic and create new contacts via employee advocacy program (PostBeyond)
    • Create, manage and run paid media campaigns on social platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram) 
    • Support the onboarding efforts of new team members to ensure social profiles are updated and reflect the SmartBug brand, and serve as a resource for individual professional development, where applicable.
  • Creative:
    • Provide creative ideas for content marketing and update website
    • Create branded content for social media using templates in Canva
    • Edit and produce video content for social; work with creative team for support
    • Write content for social
    • Acquire insight in online marketing trends and keep strategies up-to-date

Admin Experience with Marketing Technologies: HubSpot CMS, Marketing Hub, Sales Hub, PostBeyond, Canva, Sigstr, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Adobe Creative Suite, BrandLive, Vidyard, ZoomInfo, DiscoverOrg

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a remote or home office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Some flexibility in schedule is allowed, but the employee must be available during typical business hours for their time zone Monday through Friday. This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work.


No regular travel, with the exception of the company’s annual retreat, is expected for this position.

Required Experience

  1. 3+ years experience with online marketing and social media, preferably a B.A. or B.S. degree in related field
  2. The desire to learn on your own and keep up with inbound marketing and digital marketing best practices
  3. Very strong attention to detail and ability to manage projects
  4. Strong work ethic with a positive and enthusiastic attitude
  5. Demonstrated ability to think creatively and analytically
  6. Independent management skills
  7. Journalism and/or strong writing and storytelling skills
  8. Strong hands-on HubSpot experience is required
  9. Strong communication skills with excellent relationship building skills
  10. Understanding of major social media platforms by having experience establishing and/or maintaining LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram profiles
  11. Basic design skills, knowledge of search engine optimization, and knowledge of email marketing best practices and CAN-SPAM compliance
  12. Proficiency in Google Suite

Required Education and Certifications

  1. Inbound certification or HubSpot certification a plus
  2. Experience working remotely preferred
