Director, Paid Media (Remote)

Position Overview:

As the Director of Paid Media, you will own one of SmartBug’s strategic and fastest-growing lines of business. This is a leadership position where you will have board-level visibility, executive support, and significant autonomy to build and shape the paid media team in the way you feel best meets SmartBug’s goals for the line of business. You will have a unique opportunity to put your signature on the growth and success of this line of business.

In this role, you will own the paid media customer experience, service offering, and talent profile. You will inherit a small time of passionate paid search marketings and budget to quickly grow your team and an already solid customer base. From there, the sky is the limit!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conceive and execute the strategic plan for this paid media line of business.
  • Recruit, manage, train, and mentor the paid media team.
  • Lead the recruitment process for new talent and build career development plans for existing staff.
  • Ensure the successful delivery of paid media programs for all SmartBug clients, including client management, campaign/budget management, development of media plans, performance, reporting development, and optimization towards ROI-focused KPIs.
  • Collaborate with sales and client services on the presentation of specific opportunities so that your expertise can ensure best-fit products for SmartBug’s growth.
  • Identify and implement improvements to SmartBug’s internal processes as it relates to paid media (client delivery, best practices, team workflows, implementation of new tools, etc)
  • Lead the development and expansion of SmartBug’s paid media service line; develop proactive recommendations (process, tools, platforms, skillsets) to expand team capabilities and agency growth
  • Serve as the paid media thought leader – for both agency and clients – and grow SmartBug’s reputation in paid media to rival our inbound marketing leadership (via blogs, case studies, agency POVs on relevant topics, etc.)
  • Contribute your thought leadership and build your brand by contributing to SmartBug’s blog, social media, or co-marketing activities.

Requirements:

  • Leadership mentality - ready and excited to lead and develop your own business unit
  • 6+ years of progressive paid media experience, across multiple industries and verticals
  • 4+ years of experience building teams, managing and mentoring the next generation of paid media experts
  • Expert knowledge and hands-on expertise in paid search, paid social, and digital media planning and buying including ABM, including Google Ads, Bing, Yahoo, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook/Instagram, Terminus, DemandBase, and other third-party ad platforms
  • Expert knowledge of programmatic strategies for display, video, social and/or DSP partners, as well as experience working with external data or media providers 
  • Proven track record of developing paid media strategies in alignment with client goals, delivering revenue & generating results
  • Sound understanding of the online landscape (brand marketing, performance marketing, content, SEO, organic activity, etc.), how the buyer’s journey unfolds, and how paid media can acquire and accelerate prospects through to conversion
  • Top tier client relationship management skills, ability to uplevel the client experience from reporting to account sponsorship to executive-level communication
  • Experience working remotely in similar roles preferred
